I was a turn-key for the (DOC) Department of Correction. My job was to manage the day-to-day activities of prison inmates. My job description also included ushering large groups of inmates in/out of their cells to attend their spiritual meetings. Most, if not all, of these residents, were habitual drug addicts trying to find a spiritual resolution. Once a week, this evangelistic group would come to the prison and share the good news of Jesus Christ (they would sermonize the hell out of you). I could only hear their voices. After all, I monitored the inmates from outside the room because I am a devoted Muslim who does not need Christianity. This gentleman always made closing remarks with a special connection with the residents that I could not understand. Months after listening to his philosophy concerning heart issues, I realized that I too had built a prison around my heart, and my family could not penetrate the walls thereof. In the fullness of time, not only was I in the classroom, but I was sitting in the front row.
